David Riley, MD — founder of SWIHM and co-leader of the CARE guidelines — is board certified in Internal Medicine, is an editor with The Permanente Journal, and has participated in the development of health research reporting guidelines since 1999. SWIHM was founded to improve health research preprints, posters, and publications through training in writing using reporting guidelines to support better communication among healthcare stakeholders around the world.
In 2011, Dr. Riley co-led the development of the CARE guidelines, a widely accepted standard for writing case reports accepted by medical journals and translated into more than 10 languages. Currently living in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Riley's interests range from music to cooking to medicine; he invites you to use case reports to communicate with the global healthcare community.
